Banca Nazionale del Lavoro is listed in the Milan Stock Exchange (MIB 30 benchmark
index) and it ranks among the largest Italian banking group and the world's
100 largest banks. Founded in 1913, BNL was changed into a limited company
in 1992 and privatised in 1998. Today, the Bank's capital is owned by leading
Italian and foreign banking groups and insurers, major institutional investors
and about 300,000 individual investors. About 30% of BNL's shares are held
by a few core shareholders (BBVA, Generali, MPS and BPV), while the remaining
70% are in circulation with the general investing public.
The Group
Today, in addition to its parent company, the BNL Group includes 23 undertakings
and financial institutions (directly or indirectly controlled by it) consolidated
under the parent-company approach, 7 under the equity method, and 108 under
the cost method. The Group's companies are actively engaged in: banking and
investments (Artigiancassa, Coopercredito, Banca BNL Investimenti), e-banking
services (e-banking BNL), factoring (Ifitalia, BNL Finance), leasing (Locafit),
asset management (BNL Gestioni SGR, BNL Fondi Immobiliari SGR), trust services
(Servizio Italia), and insurance (BNL Vita); telecommunications services and
infrastructure (Albacom, BNL Multiservizi); and publishing and publicity (BNL
Edizioni, BNL Eventi).
