Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is an integrated electronic components manufacturer.
Since its establishment in 1944, it has pursued research and development into
a broad spectrum of functional ceramics and their potential applications,
and has introduced to the market a diverse range of electronic components
that effectively exploit the unique electrical properties of ceramic materials.
Functional ceramics are stone-like materials that are made by adding various
chemical raw materials, separated and purified at atomic level, to a ceramic
base which is hardened by firing. By adding trace quantities of doping materials
and changing firing conditions or atmospheric conditions, these "wonder
stones" can vary with a wide variety of electrical characteristics.
Over the years, Murata's longstanding involvement with these "wonder
stones", or functional ceramics, has borne fruit in the form of a rich
variety of innovative electronic components. The ceramics technology is growing
increasingly important as a key driving force in the creation of a new electronics
revolution for the 21st century.
At Murata we approach the study of materials according to the basic principle
that "new quality electronic equipment begins with new quality components
and new quality components begin with new quality materials." Our work
spans the range from basic scientific research through to the development

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary in 1994 of the company's founding,
we, at all Murata Group, aim to be an "Innovator in Electronics"
